I have mixed feelings about it because I really enjoyed my years at the sorority and was proud that we had a very diverse membership from majorettes to chemistry majors, but a few years later the university allowed several new soritities to come on campus and so rush was more difficult and our chapter's numbers declined. National came in one week and told everyone to clear out. I hope that one day Theta will re-establish the chapter there, but until then, my kite will stay grounded.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31672142.post-85193945657444640392007-03-19T08:28:00.000-04:002007-03-19T08:28:00.000-04:00This chapter had been struggling for several years...This chapter had been struggling for several years even with outside attempt to help reverse the membership decline. Members voted to close on their own because of the negative campus environment that prevented women from joining and that was when the membership reviews occurred (at the recommnedation of the university). It was other students who said negative things and hurt these women, not their sorority leaders. It's much easier to place blame on an unknown leadership than the those peers whose approval these women seek through the media attention. This issue was never about appearance, race or anything else until the New York Times waltzed in with their own agenda.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
