Girl Falls Out of Window at Indiana State SAE House

ISU Student in Fair Condition After Fall

Deanne Cohagan, 20, a student a Indiana State University, fell out a second story window of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Reports conflict, but the student was either sitting on the window sill or was to talking and attempted to lean against a window, not realizing the window was open.

The student was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery. Her injuries were not life threatening.

The police are not investigating the incident further, however the SAE nationals have sent an investigative team to look into the incident. Brandon Weghorst, director of communication for SAE said if there is an incident at a chapter “We immediately respond with an investigative team”.

There is no report that alcohol had anything to do with the student, at 12:30 am, mistaking the open window for a closed one. However, alcohol is not permitted at ISU fraternities, according to university policy.

Al Perone, Indiana State's director of student activities and organizations, said the school is focused on the injured student. “We want to make sure she’s OK.”
