Watch Your Back: Campus Police Will Have Guns

Cal U Police Will Be Armed This Fall

When school resumes next fall at California University of Pennsylvania, 14 campus police officers will be loaded with handguns just in case students get too rowdy at the old frat house.

"It doesn't have anything to do with violence. Weapons are for the protection of students and the public," said the campus police chief. No specific incident drove lawmakers or university trustees to push the new idea, but with the safety and security of the students being the top priority, the guns we decided to be implemented into the force.

The chief said he wasn't so much worried about using the guns on students, but rather on trespassers who be be violating rules and laws that enter the campus.
