Colorado Student May Have Been Planning Attack

CU Student Arrested After Police Find Guns in Room

Police arrested a University of Colorado student after finding two guns, a knife and several hundred pounds of ammunition in his dorm room Thursday.

The student, Matthew Thomas Furnish, was arraigned Friday on two counts of unlawful possession of deadly weapons on campus and three counts of unlawful conduct on public property.

An unidentified caller reported to police the contents of Furnish's room. In his room, police found a .40-caliber handgun, a 12-gauge shotgun, several hundred rounds of ammunition, magazine clips and a 12-inch knife.

Police said the student did not have a history of violence or threats and weren't sure what he had intended to do with the artillery or why he had it in his room.
