Kansas State Pi Kappa Phi Closing
Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity to Close Student Chapter Because of Low Numbers
Kansas State University won't have an undergraduate chapter of Pi Kappa Phi when students return to campus in the fall.
After almost 30 years on campus, the fraternity is being forced to close its doors after several years of sub-par recruitment and current low numbers in active brothers.
"We're not leaving because of negative things like alcohol problems or hazing or anything like that," said Tyler Price, Pi Kappa Phi's president. "It was just a rough stretch of years for recruitment and when that happens, it's difficult to keep the house full."
The fraternity's alumni plan to stay active within the organization and hope to reopen the undergraduate frat's doors as early as 2011.
