The police chief of the West Valley-Mission Community College District said a thorough search of Mission College and its environs on Friday revealed nothing suspicious, despite an anonymous letter warning of a bomb on campus.

District police Chief Laura Lorman said the campus was cleared to re-open today.

Students and faculty were evacuated from Mission College in Santa Clara on Friday morning after the letter was discovered at 10:20 a.m., Mission College spokeswoman Ruth Carlson said. The entire campus was cleared by 11:30 a.m., she reported.

Campus police "made the call to close the campus. They thought the threat was credible enough," Carlson said Friday.

About 10,000 students are enrolled at Mission College, but "Fridays are generally very slow," Carlson said.
