Parents File Suit Against Frat After Son Died In Brother/Pledge Football Game

Wrongful Death Suit Filed Against Fraternity

Kenny Luong was a student at Cal Poly-Pomona when he died during a pledge football game in 2005. Now Luong's family has filed a wrongful death suit.

Although a Cal Poly student, Luong was pledging Lambda Phi Epsilon at University of California Irvine, with the hope that after becoming a brother, he would be able to start a chapter at Cal Poly. Lambda Phi Epsilon is a historically Asian fraternity.

Luong, then 19, sustained a head injury during the game, which was 9 pledges against 40 brothers.

Although the chapter was temporarily suspended a during an investigation, no charges were filed.
