A vigil is scheduled for Wednesday to remember the Norfolk State University student who was fatally stabbed over the weekend by a fellow student.
Terrance Allen Ross (pictured left), 18, was charged after an altercation Saturday evening that left Sean Williams, 18, of Newport News, dead. Ross appeared briefly before a judge Monday, charged with murdering Williams and wounding another man who was not a student.
Police headed to the area around NSU's Babbett B. Smith residence halls at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Williams died at the scene. The other victim was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was listed in good condition Monday.
Ross was taken into custody inside the residence hall, where both he and Williams had lived, said Anthony Walker, assistant chief of the NSU police. Authorities did not disclose what led up to the assault.
