Lack of Evidence in Alleged De Anza College Party Rape
Partygoers 'Got Away' With Sex Assault at Team Party
Students that attended a March 3 De Anza College party won't face rape charges after a California sheriff said there is a lack of evidence to pursue any convictions.
At a party that was said to be attended by members of the college's baseball team, a 17-year old woman said she was allegedly gang raped. Although the sheriff said she believes an incident of sexual assault occurred, their is no way to prove the crime.
Witnesses at the party said the girl had been drinking and passed out before the suspected sexual assault occurred.
Eight players from the baseball team had been suspended from play for violating the college's ethics policy.
