Liberty Student Said He Planned to Bomb Jerry Falwell Funeral

Police Arrest Liberty University Student

A Liberty University student who told a family member he made a few bombs to take to the funeral of the late Jerry Falwell was arrested, police said.

Police aren't sure why Mark David Uhl, 19, planned on bombing the service or if he would even follow through with the threat. They said they did not believe Falwell's immediate family was in any sort of trouble.

Uhl was arrested Monday. He was charged with manufacturing an explosive device. Police said the bombs were about the size of a can of soda. Falwell's funeral went as planned Tuesday.
