Phi Delt Chapter That Blindfolded Pledge Gets Sanctioned
A&M-CC Places Sanctions on Frat
Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi's chapter of Phi Delta Theta was placed on social probation after a police officer found a student in a car driven by brothers blindfolded and tied up in the backseat during a traffic stop.
The brothers are on social probation until the end of the 2008 spring semester and can't hold any event with alcohol through the 2009 academic year. Also, all 32 of its members are required to complete 25 hours of community service next year, as well as holding an anti-hazing seminar for their chapter and the entire campus.
"Something we look at is making sure the members learned that they did something wrong, and that they can develop from those experiences," said the university's director of student activities.
