College Student Claims She Was Beaten by Police

A Northwestern University student said police in Shreveport, Louisiana, used excessive force on her following a minor traffic accident where she was given a ticket she then tore up.

"The funny thing, the ironic thing and the corrupt thing is that she's arrested for rear-ending someone and tearing up a ticket and putting it in her own bag and then they beat the crap out of her really," the student's attorney, Melissa Sugar, told KTBS.

The student, Katherine Pearson, knows she was wrong in what she did, but didn't expect police to treat her with that type of behavior. After the incident, Pearson was taken to jail where she wasn't allowed to take he prescribed medications or shower, her lawyer told the TV station.
