Sig Phi Delta Brothers "Engineer" House Fire
Tri-State University Fraternity Catches Fire
An early morning fire was started in the basement of the Sigma Phi Delta fraternity house at Tri-State University after some brothers were reportedly playing with fireworks.
"It just looked like the whole house was on fire almost, because it was actually going to the top of the roof and going over it--around the edges... so it was kind of scary when you look at it," Adam White, a brother of the fraternity, told WANE-TV.
Firefighters said the flames began when the fireworks caught some towels on fire in the basement. All brothers were able to get out of the house safely.
The total amount of damage was estimated at about $15,000 and the brothers staying for the summer should be able to move back to the house in about a week. The fraternity is the only Greek organization founded specifically for engineering students, not for fireworks
