Police are looking for a gun-wielding woman who was dressed all in black when she robbed a Federal Credit Union near Central Florida Community College on Wednesday afternoon.

Ocala police Sgt. Lou Biondi said the robber's hands and face were covered but she had a distinctive female voice as she loudly issued orders to credit union employees and pointed a gun at one employee's side.

At 4:10 p.m., the woman entered the credit union, across from Paddock Mall, and walked over to a desk where two female employees were going over transactions. She pointed the gun at one woman and threw a bag at the other as she ordered them to the teller's counter.

After reaching the first teller, with the gun still pointed at the employee's side, the robber ordered the other woman to go behind the counter and collect money. Employees at the adjoining AAA Auto Club South office said they were unaware of the robbery until police showed up.

Police vehicles, evidence vans and K-9 units converged on the scene as a helicopter from the Marion County Sheriff's Office swept the area. However, Biondi said, the police dog only got so far with the woman's scent, which led investigators to believe she had escaped in a vehicle.

"I've heard of women getaway drivers but never a woman bank robber," said Biondi, who has been with the Police Department for 14 years.

The robber was described as about 5-foot-10, between 190 to 200 pounds.
