Police are asking for the public's help finding a suspect wanted in connection with the stabbing Sunday of a longtime Pasadena City College police dispatcher.

Jason Webster, 30, described as 6 feet, 2 inches tall with red curly hair and blue eyes, last seen wearing blue jeans, a light-colored shirt and Nike sneakers, is being sought by the Pasadena Police Department and the college police.

Webster is a "person of interest" in a Sunday 9:30 p.m. stabbing in a secured campus office against dispatcher Ralph Humphrey.

Humphrey was found bloodied by several wounds to his chest, arm and hands in the office after he radioed for help following an attack with a steak knife, according to Pasadena City College police Lt. Bradley Young.

Humphrey, who has worked as a dispatcher for the past 14 years, was leaning over a cabinet in the office around 9:30 p.m. when he saw someone standing in the doorway.

Before he could look up, the man punched Humphrey in the right side of his face, knocking him to the ground, and a struggle ensued, according to Young.

The man used a steak knife to stab Humphrey in his hands and chest. The suspect finally ran away from the scene, leaving the knife lodged in Humphrey's chest, he said.
