A 59-year-old Franklin, Tenn., man is picking up a hobby he left behind 37 years ago -- playing college football.

Michael Flynt, who last played college ball in 1970, is currently attending training camp at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas, along with about 100 other players -- most of whom are younger than Flint's own three children, the Nashville Tennessean reported Tuesday.

Flynt, who was dismissed as starting linebacker for the school's team in 1970 after a series of altercations, will find out later this week if he made this year's team's final cut.

I can tell you that he did make it to training camp, Sul Ross sports information director Travis Hendryx said.

"Mike wanted to go play at McMurry, which is up the road in Abilene, Texas, but the NCAA said he has one more year of eligibility, but he has to play it back at the school where he last played,'' Hendryx said.
