Florida State University students were sent a crime alert Tuesday night that Tallahassee police and FSU police are investigating three robberies at off-campus student apartment complexes.

The first was at 2208 Escambia Drive at 1:45 a.m. July 25, where the robber called out a generic name and the resident opened the door. The second was Sunday at 1001 Ocala Road, Osceola Ridge Apartments, at 11:50 a.m., where the robbers said they were with maintenance.

The most recent was Monday at 1505 W. Tharpe St., the Village on Tharpe, which did not involve a ruse, said Tallahassee police spokesman John Creamer.

"It got me kind of worried because I have a lot of expensive things in my apartment," said FSU junior Rachael Gibbs, 20, about her reaction to the alert. "We always lock our doors, but it makes me a little more hesitant to open the doors to people."
