A cousin of embattled Atlanta Falcons and former Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick was in court on Tuesday facing a marijuana possession charge.

Davon Boddie appeared in a Newport News, Va. Courtroom and was quickly released on bond. He was then arrested outside the courthouse on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in traffic court on May 1.

The investigation into Boddie's drug possession charge led authorities to search Vick's Surry County, Va. Home, which eventually led to federal dogfighting charges against Vick and three associates.

Boddie's attorney said the investigation into the dogfighting ring has taken a toll on his client, who lived at Vick's home where the alleged crimes took place.
