San Diego State Students Party Too Loud, Police Say

30 Fined in Noise Crackdown in SDSU Area

Police are hoping to crackdown on noise around the campus of San Diego State University and have issued $1,000 fines to renters and landlords in the area.

"Responsible people actually come to the door and say, 'Officer, I'm sorry. I'll turn the music down,'" a San Diego police officer said.

Police said they hope the fines will discourage disruptive activities in the neighborhoods surrounding the university.

"We had, like, a little over five friends over and we weren't even being that loud," senior Sabrina Delaney told a local newspaper after being fined by police. "It wasn't a party at all . . . We had a little bit to drink, but when the officers came to the door, we weren't drunk."

"We all work and we're paying our way through college, and this happened," she said. "It was really outrageous."
