Brothers of the University of Washington's Delta Upsilon chapter on Saturday threw water balloons and yelled racial slurs at an Asian student passing by from their balcony, police said.
Witnesses told police they were walking near the fraternity's house when they saw an Asian student hit in the head with a water balloon hurled from a balcony.
As the student ran from the house, witnesses said several people were yelling anti-immigrant slurs from the balcony. Another man told police his friend had also been hit with a chucked balloon.
Delta Upsilon president Kyle Sahagun told police he and the fraternity's other members were in a meeting when the incident occurred.
Police were not able to track down either victim.
"I can assure you that my chapter does not condone or tolerate any activities associated with an incident of this nature, and that we take seriously the incident reported to us by the Seattle Police Department," the president told police in an email.
