March 13 - Police charged Kristina Haubrich, 19, of Hopewell, N.J. with possession of a contained substance or less than four ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.According to police, an officer conducted a vehicle check that was occupied by Haubrich. During the search, it was found that Haubrich was found to be in possession of 2.8 grams of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe.

March 16 - Police charged Christopher Bussiere, 19, of Canton with possession of a contained substance or less than four ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. According to police, officers were investigating the odor of marijuana in the area of Towers dormitory. After a brief investigation, Bussiere was found to be in possession of 6sixgrams of marijuana and several marijuana smoking pipes.

March 17 - Police charged Robyn Lee, 18, of Vernon with assault in the third degree and breach of peace in the second degree. According to police, officers responded to a report of an altercation between a male and female outside of Middlesex Hall in North Campus. Residents of the building were alarmed by the altercation and called police. After an investigation, officers determined that Lee struck her boyfriend in the face causing minor physical injury and was the female involved in the altercation.

Students Gather at Memorial for UConn Theta

Students Remember Sorority Girl Killed in Hit-and-Run

Hundreds of people gathered at a memorial Sunday to share memories of Carlee Wines, the University of Connecticut student killed by a hit-and-run vehicle on campus two months ago.

Wines, 19, a freshman from Manalapan, N.J., died two days after being struck in a campus crosswalk on Jan. 20.

She was remembered Sunday as a vibrant young woman who loved UConn, made friends easily and loved taking pictures for her scrapbook or sending them to friends from her cell phone.
About 500 people attended the memorial Sunday in UConn's student union theater, including several police officers and investigators who worked on the hit-and-run case, friends from high school, and her UConn sorority sisters from Kappa Alpha Theta.

''You people embraced her and took her on as your own,'' Carlee's father, Stephen Wines, told the crowd.

Police have arrested five people in connection with the incident, including alleged driver Anthony P. Alvino, of Lindenhurst, N.Y.. He faces multiple charges including misconduct with a motor vehicle resulting in death.

His front-seat passenger, UConn freshman Michele Hall, of Wantagh, N.Y., is charged with conspiracy to commit evading responsibility, and three other students are charged with serving or buying liquor for the four teenagers who were in Alvino's vehicle.

The cases are pending in court.

Stealing From the Bookstore and Overdosing on Tylenol

Feb. 19: Police charged Novack Lazare, 21, of West Haven with second-degree breach of peace. According to police, officers were dispatched to South Campus building C for a disturbance on the third floor. A brief investigation revealed that Lazare was pounding on a resident's door while yelling in the hallway.

Feb. 20: Police charged Linh Hoang, 20, of Stamford with larceny in the sixth degree. According to police, officers responded to the UConn Co-op bookstore for a reported larceny. After a brief investigation, it was learned that Hoang had taken several items from the Co-op bookstore and exited without purchasing the items.

Feb. 25: Tech police responded to a medical emergency when a student took 10 Tylenol tablets. According to reports, the student took the tablets after becoming upset with her boyfriend. Police said the student agreed to speak with qualified professionals and check herself in at the Covenant Medical Center.

Police Seize Suspected SUV in UConn Student Hit-and-Run

Arrests have yet to occur, but police believe they found the SUV that killed University of Connecticut student and Kappa Alpha Theta sister Carlee Wines last month.

Police found a damaged Nissan Armada that the believe hit the girl in a hit-and-run incident while she was walking home to her dorm. Carlee was a freshmen member of the sorority.

Friends Start Fraternity From Scratch

There's a new frat at the University of Connecticut. In what started as a joke, 9 guys and a girl started "Lambda Lambda Lambda" in tribute to the 1994 film "Revenge of the Nerds."

The university's department of Greek Life will not recognize the fraternity, but they have been categorized as a 'special interest' organization.

UConn's newest frat plans to begin its first rush today, with about 30 students expected to participate. Brothers said that students interested in joining can also attend next week's involvement fair.

"It shouldn't be a stress to be in a frat," said founder Nick Carroll, "The openness of our frat is what I love."
