Above Ground Pledging = Good, Underground Pledging = Bad

Fraternity on Probation for Bad Rushing

The Georgia College and State University's IFC filed charges against the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi for taking an underground pledge class.

The college made a new rule this school year prohibiting first-semester freshmen from rushing a frat to help boost GPAs. With rush delayed to the Spring 2007 semester, Pi Kappa Phi allegedly

“We were in direct violation of the Greek System, because we were not allowed to recruit freshman until each of them have 12 or more completed hours here at GCSU. We did break the rules, got caught and are serving our sanctions out to the fullest,” said Martin, Pi Kappa Phi's president.

For the violation, the frat cannot take new pledges for one calender year, cannot participate in Greek Week, Homecoming, or intramurals, and is prohibited from having parties with the exception of their spring formal - the Rose Ball.
