Bar Costs Could Rise at PSU

Drink Tax Considered in State College

State College, PA borough officials are considering imposing a 5 or 1o percent tax on alcoholic beverages sold at local bars and restaurants around the Penn State campus.

Officials say it would help to defray the cost of more than 7,500 alcohol and police related incidents each year. Penn State plans to back the bar tax.

Joe Paterno has not yet commented on the situation.
