Vandals Trash Vacant Fraternity House

The University of Arizona's chapter of Delta Tau Delta has a new home on the campus at Cherry Street, but it's their old house that seems to be causing all the trouble.

Since moving to their new house a few weekends ago, their old, vacant house has been vandalized, not once - but twice!

The Wildcat Online reports that "trash is streen about the house's interior, jagged remains of windowpanes just from the frames, and it is impossible to lock the facility."

"The building right now looks like the Beirut Hilton," said Steve Holland, director of risk management and safety at the university, "It's completely destroyed."

A fence was put up to keep people out prior to the vandalism, but that didn't stop the trespassers. Someone entered the house and set a dead Christmas tree on fire in the basement. Luckily, the rest of the house did not catch fire, but the sprinkler system flooded the room.

The building is scheduled to be torn down soon to make way for a new facility. The case is being investigated as arson by local police.
