Rape Reported at Winthrop

Police Investigate Fraternity House Rape Report

As reported by the Charlotte Observer:

Rock Hill police are investigating a complaint by a woman that she was sexually assaulted last weekend during a party at a college fraternity house.

The woman, who is 19, told police Monday that the assault happened sometime late Saturday or early Sunday at the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house, on Park Avenue Extension.

No charges have been filed.

It is not known if the victim is a student at Winthrop University.

According to the Rock Hill Herald, the woman told police she went to the fraternity house about 4 p.m. Saturday to attend a party. The woman said she was drinking and was sexually assaulted sometime during the night.

The woman left the house Sunday morning and reported the assault Monday. According to the Rock Hill Herald, the woman told police she delayed in reporting the incident because she was afraid of what fraternity members might do to her.
