Pledge Says Cornell ΛΘΦ Brothers Slapped and Shoved Him

Cornell Frat Slapped With Suspension

Cornell University suspeneded its chapter of Lambda Theta Phi last week following allegations of shoving and slapping a pledge in February.

Two students - Eric Perez, 20, a student at LeMoyne College, and Gilberto Gomez, 23, a former Cornell student - were charged with second-degree harassment and second-degree hazing by the Ithaca Police Department for the incident.

Reports said the incident occurred during the frat's initiation.

“We don’t condone any kind of hazing,” said Byron Bustos, the national president of Lambda Theta Phi. “We don’t take these kinds of incidents or allegations lightly, we take this very seriously because it puts a bad name on the fraternity.”
