A couple caught prowling in Ann Arbor early today was arrested after officers found items in their possession that were stolen from a room in the West Quadrangle Residence Hall, according to the University of Michigan Department of Public Safety.
Ann Arbor officers first had contact with the 26-year-old Ypsilanti man and 17-year-old Chelsea woman shortly after midnight, said Diane Brown, spokeswoman for campus police. Officers discovered two cell phones and $10 on the couple, and those items were traced back to a break-in at West Quad, Brown said.
The break-in had not been reported to campus police, and it's unclear if the residents realized the items had been taken. The burglary likely occurred between 10 p.m. and midnight, and the dorm room was unlocked, Brown said.
