Pitt Girls Start Multicultural Sorority
Pittsburgh Students Start New Sorority
Two University of Pittsburgh girls hope to start the first multicultural sorority on the campus as soon as next fall.
"We felt that there was no availability of choice. There are racially divided sororities and one multicultural sorority on campus. We think people need more options and we want to bring it to them," said Sarah Miller, who along with friend Suzie Agjogah, hope to make their dream of the perfectly diverse sorority a reality.
The first step in the process was to bring the organizaition "Women for a Multicultural Tomorrow" to the university. So far the sorority has only 10 members and doesn't have a house or actual Greek letters tied to its group. With enough effort, they hope to change that.
"All girls are welcome. They just have to be excited and ready to work to share our message of unity with others. I want us to even become best friends and partners in our vision. We are even looking to work on the entry fees. We don't want money to hinder anyone from taking part in our future sorority," Miller said.
