SAE Back at Bowling Green, Alumni Support Strong

Greek Life welcomes back fraternity after almost 7 years
Sigma Alpha Epsilon has a proud history at Bowling Green state University. Three of it alumni names adorn on buildings on Bowling Greens campus.

Two of these men, Clayton Kohl and Ervin Kreischer, maintained a high profile in the BGSU organization, as longtime football coach and vice-president, respectively.

However, SAE's high profile alumni and long tradition at Bowling Green mattered little when the fraternity left the campus in 2000.

Now, thanks to the tireless work of several diligent new brothers, the SAE chapter at BGSU has received their charter. It was not easy though, the whole chapter was given a challenging criteria by which they would be judged before the national office would permit them to hold a charter.

"We had to pass through an investigation by the national fraternity to make sure we were living up to our 12 core values as a part of the True Gentleman Initiative," said J.T. Filbert, correspondence secretary.

The chapter was also required to reach standards on membership size, philanthropy and community service, and establish a scholarship program.

"We've worked two and a half years for this, we built this from nothing into a national fraternity, which is so rough, there were times when I thought it would never happen I feel so much personal excitement not just for myself but for every member and alumni." said John Sideris, the fraternity's vice-president, and the re-chartering founding father.
