A science building on the University of Colorado campus was shut down after a student had a mishap during an experiment on Wednesday.
Authorities say they had to shut down the Duane Physics Building after a student, who was mixing two chemicals for a science experiment, caused a small explosion at about 5:20 p.m.
A campus police official says the student cut his arm, but there were no reports of serious injuries.
Authorities say the building was evacuated as a precaution. Boulder Police assisted with traffic and cleared the scene.
Authorities say a perimeter was set up around the building, but they hope to have the building reopened by Wednesday evening.
