FSU Cops Are Ready If a Crisis Occurs
Florida State Police Prepared for Crisis
The police chief at Florida State University said his campus security force is ready in case anything like what happened in April at Virginia Tech should occur at the Tallahassee college.
“These incidents are real and they occur," Police Chief David Perry told Tallahassee.com. Patrol officers are trained to shoot at any active shooter and they won't have to wait for any backup police should a similar incident occur, he said.
Florida State police are a little short of the national standards when it comes to number of active officers, he said. Currently they are only staffed with about 60, when 80 is usually the norm.
