Police Investigating Rash of Car Thefts at Florida's New College

Police are investigating a rash of car burglaries that happened late Thursday night on the campus of New College in Sarasota, Fla.
At least five cars were burglarized between Thursday night and Friday morning, college officials said.
One vehicle was parked at Sudakoff Center and the others were near the student residence halls. The college is on the east and west sides of U.S. 41, just north of University Parkway.
"We are encouraging people to report suspicious activities to campus police," said college spokesman Jake Hartvigsen. "We are also reminding them to take preventive steps to safeguard their vehicles from damage by parking in well-lit areas, securing their cars and removing any valuables."
No arrests have been made and the burglaries are under investigation.
