Chi Eta Phi Kicks Off Nurses Week with Service Initiative

Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc, the international Greek letter organization for nurses partnered up with the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association for Nurses week. The Fort Wayne, Indiana chapter held several events to educate the elderly about the signs of a stroke and preventive measures that can be taken.

Chi Eta Phi focuses its efforts on serving the African-American community. The events held included blood pressure screens, and education on the symptoms of a stroke

"It was very effective," said Denise Jordan, an instructor at Ivy Tech. "Residents were able to repeat the warning signs of stroke, what to do if they noticed signs indicating stroke, and to discuss preventable risk factors"
