Michigan Students Busted for Downloading Music

Burned: Students Hit With RIAA Suits

Students at the University if Michigan may face penalties for illegally downloading music as 12 lawsuits for filed against the college's network users.

Eleven of the students were reported by the university's student newspaper to have settled with the Recording Industry Association of America. The group asked the university for the identities of many students they believed were connected with illegal file sharing activity.

Students and faculty told the newspaper fines ranged between $4,000 and $5,000.
