Northwestern Girl Raped at Apartment

Student Sexually Assaulted

A 22-year old female student at Northwestern University was raped and sexually assaulted Tuesday night at her apartment, police said.

Police said when the student returned to her apartment building a few blocks from campus around 11:30 p.m, a man approached her from behind and put his hand over her mouth. He then told her to open the apartment door and threatened to kill her if she screamed, police said.

The man put a piece of clothing around her face so she couldn't see him, and forced her to walk around the apartment with him looking for valuables, police said. He took her into the bedroom, raped her and tied her to the bed with a telephone cord before leaving, police said.

Police said they believe the man was about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weren't sure if he had a weapon at the time of the incident.
