Greek Life at Kansas is Cheaper Than Living in Dorms

Comparable Living Costs Make Greek Life Affordable

The average costs of partaking in a Greek organization at the University of Kansas are a bit cheaper than living in the dorms on campus, a study of university costs shows.

"The summer before my freshman year, I participated in formal recruitment simply because I saw that some fraternities cost less than the dorms," said Jay Benedict, a junior at the university.

Room and board at Kansas costs about $6,100 a year. The study found the average cost of living in a Greek house with the organizations dues only costs about $6,000, with half of the fraternities and sororities on campus falling well below that mark.
