New Mexico SAE Chapter Suspended After Rape Allegations

Sex Assault Charges Get UNM Frat Suspended

The University of New Mexico's Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter has been suspended until college officials make a judgment on the fraternity following the brother's arraignment on charges he raped a 15 -year old girl.

SAE brother Michael McGiffin, 24, faces a long list of charges for the June rape of the girl.

Police said they found a video depicting McGiffin and the girl performing sexual acts. Another video police found showed McGiffin in sexual acts with a woman police also believe to be a minor who may have been unconscious.

McGiffin faces 11 felony counts, including criminal sexual penetration, criminal sexual contact with a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Another brother of the same chapter, James Anaya, was charged for raping another female student last fall.
