Suspended Fraternity Returns

Phi Delta Theta fraternity is making a return this semester at the University of Utah after disbanding just two years ago.

"On the same day we suspended the chapter, we were already making plans for its return," said Ryan Lufkin, an alumnus of the chapter. "For us, there was just never any question that Phi Delta Theta would be back on campus."

The chapter lost its 91-year-old charter in 2005 after a student reported being hazed at initiation. He said he was kicked in the mouth by a brother.

"Starting a fraternity takes a lot more effort than maintaining one," a Greek adviser from the university said.

Alumni representatives from the chapter say they're ready for that challenge.
