A Sigma Phi Epsilon brother from the University of Delaware who was critically injured when he was hit by a while on spring break in Cancun is on his to making a recovery.Paul Conticelli was walking back to his hotel room with one of his fraternity brothers around 4 a.m on March 25. When they went to cross the street, Conticelli was hit by a speeding drunk driver who didn't have his headlights on.
Paul fractured his skull and a leg and had to be put in a medically induced coma. He's now about 80 percent back to normal, he told a newspaper in his hometown.
UD Won't Discipline Students Over Costumes
The president of the University of Delaware said an honors fraternity won't face any discipline from the campus administration for hosting a Cinco de Mayo where its members dressed in costumes mocking Mexican heritage.
Pictures from a party hosted by honors fraternity Phi Sigma Pi showed up on Facebook. In the photos, students were said to have been dressed as farmers and gardeners with name tags with historically Latino names like "Pedro," "Jaun," and "Jose" on their shirts. Other pictures showed students with racial slurs written on their backs.
Members of the honors fraternity said the party and the costumes were not meant to be malicious toward Latinos and campus officials said their actions were "not criminal" enough to warrant and discipline.
The honors fraternity has reportedly decided to suspend several of its members who participated.
Students Donate 'Locks of Love'
Alpha Xi Delta sorority at the University of Delaware held an event where they gave students free haircuts on campus and then donated the hair to a charity that makes hairpieces for poor kids.
“People donate blood all the time, but no one thinks to donate hair,” said a sister of Alpha Xi Delta.
Locks of Love is a charity that collects hair to create hairpieces for disadvantaged children suffering from long-term hair loss. The sorority brought in volunteer stylists from local salons to give the haircuts.

Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority Suspended
Phi Sigma Sigma sorority at the University of Delaware has been placed on immediate suspension through 2011 by campus officials after they were said to be guilty of violating the campus alcohol policy and to have hazed and endangered the safety of others.
Sorority sisters admitted before directors from the campus' judicial affairs office that they had participated in such activities.
The sorority was found at Delaware in 1982, and currently had 79 sisters and 43 new pledges.
Just a Kiss?
Can't get enough of girls kissing? Neither can most college guys. The phenomenon has become somewhat of a trend in recent years, and it doesn't look like its going to decline in the near future - not that we here at the Frat Boy News are complaining.
"That's been around for a long time, but it's part of a larger trend that has come about recently -- maybe in the past 10 years or more -- in which young women are encouraged more and more to objectify themselves for male attention by the media," says the University of Delaware's Suzanne Cherrin, assistant professor in the women's studies program.
Ryan Courmier, of Delaware's News Journal, cites the changing attitudes of young women in college and the way the trend is portrayed in the media as possible reasons its becoming increasingly popular.
Whatever it is, we hope it continues. Why else would we patiently look at random pictures of girls on Facebook and MySpace.
