Frat Guy of the Week: Kappa Sigma's Jimmy Buffet

Believe it or not, but "Parrothead" Jimmy Buffet was a brother of Kappa Sigma during his college days at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Buffet originally attended the Auburn University, where he began pledging Sigma Pi. He would later transfer to Southern Miss, where he was initiated as a brother of Kappa Sigma and received a degree in history in 1969.

After graduating from college, Buffet began working as a correspondent for Billboard magazine. Around that time, he began recording songs, and the rest became history.

Today, Jimmy Buffet remains one of the most popular entertainers in the world and is adored by millions.

Anchor splash, the annual charity extravaganza hosted by Delta Gamma sorority is getting into full swing. The yearly event, in which fraternity's sororitie's completes in a variety of zany pool relay races and synchronized swimming, raises thousands of dollars of charity each year. Frat Boy's Body Found at Southern Miss

USM Student Found Dead at Frat House

21-year old Austin Somers, a student at the University of Southern Mississippi and brother of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, was found dead in his nearly empty frat house.

Friends found Somers body Monday. Most students had not yet returned to campus, as USM's spring semester did not start until Tuesday of this week. The initial cause of death is not yet known, but police expect to get the results to the autopsy Tuesday.
