Four rocking chairs with accompanying plaques valued at $820 were stolen from Sigma Chi's front porch, according to a University Police report.
Andrew Ward, a resident of the house, told police the rocking chairs were secured to the front porch with two cable locks. The locks appeared to have been cut with bolt cutters, police said. They were taken between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the report.
Each $175 chair had a plaque attached to the back that read "Sigma Chi Pledge Class of 2004." The plaques are valued at $30 each. Someone also attempted to cut through a metal frame holding a symbolic cross on the front lawn, police said. The damage to the cables and the cross is estimated to be less than $500.
Ward reported the missing property to University Police at 3:14 p.m. on Wednesday, police said. There are no suspects at this time.
