Police are investigating accusations of a possible rape at an April party held by Phi Gamma Delta at the University of Georgia.

The woman said she woke up around 11 a.m. on April 20 on a couch at the fraternity's house without her underwear on, police said. She also found bruises on her hips and knees, police added.

The woman's roommate encouraged her to go to the hospital and police are still investigating as to whether a possible act of sexual assault may have occurred.

Reports said a punch concoction was served at the party that contained "a lot of vodka."

Mizzou New #1, WVU #2

Missouri Takes Over Top Spot

Missouri is No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 for the second time in school history. The Tigers have to be hoping this stay is longer than the first.

Missouri became the fourth team this season - joining Southern California, LSU and Ohio State - to hold the top ranking, a day after beating Kansas 36-28 to earn a spot in the Big 12 championship game. Not since 1997 have so many teams been No. 1 in a season.

The Tigers' only other time at No. 1 lasted a week in 1960.

West Virginia moved up to No. 2 on Sunday, its highest ranking ever, and became the eighth team this season to be ranked second. The Mountaineers' 66-21 victory over Connecticut earned them the Big East title and knocked the Huskies out of the rankings.

No. 3 Ohio State, Georgia and LSU complete the top five.

LSU Preseason Pick to Win SEC

Despite losing four players in the first round of the NFL draft and its offensive coordinator, LSU is the pick to capture the Southeastern Conference football crown this fall, easily outdistancing defending national champion Florida.

All-America defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey said, "We're just as talented as we were last year."

That team included Number one overall NFL draft pick JaMarcus Russell at quarterback and three fellow first-rounders, receivers Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis and safety LaRon Landry.

Plus, offensive playcaller Jimbo Fisher left for Florida State, tailback Alley Broussard quit on Tuesday because his "heart was no longer in it" and prized quarterback prospect Ryan Perrilloux's status on the team remains uncertain after an arrest in May.

For some programs, all that might add up to a rebuilding year.

The Tigers' biggest issue right now might be dealing with huge expectations after back-to-back eleven-win seasons and a Sugar Bowl rout of Notre Dame.

They received 54 of 80 first-place votes from reporters who cover the SEC.

Florida got only seven, edging Arkansas (five) and Auburn (four), followed by Alabama (three), South Carolina (three), Tennessee (two) and Georgia (two).

The Gators were picked to win the Eastern Division, LSU the West.

Georgia Man Charged wth Credit Card Theft

The Frat Boy News daily campus police report for Thursday:

University of Georgia
(compiled by MGT.com)

University of Georgia police have arrested an Athens man in connection with theft on campus.

UGA police charged 33-year-old Letorris McDuffie with 21 counts of credit card fraud, 12 counts of theft, six counts of criminal trespass, two counts of being a party to credit card fraud and one count of theft by conversion. Police charged him Friday two days after he was arrested at a UGA office building where he had been seen a few weeks ago.

Officers arrested McDuffie Wednesday and took him to the Clarke County Jail when he returned to the UGA Foundation building.

Staff told police they had seen the man snooping late last month. Campus police Lieutenant Lisa Boone says police had barred McDuffie from all UGA properties for two years on February first when they caught him stealing construction materials from the Stegeman Coliseum Annex.

Boone said police suspected McDuffie stole several wallets, pocketbooks and backpacks from campus buildings between May 25th and June fifth because he matched the description of a man employees and students saw in the area where several thefts took place.

Police reports indicate someone tried to use credit and debits cards from the stolen wallets and bags.

The fourth-seeded Virginia men's tennis team will try to do what no other team has done this season: Beat Georgia (30-0).

The teams will square off in the semifinals of the NCAA tournament at noon today at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

On Saturday, the Cavaliers (30-3) beat No. 12 Southern California 4-1 to become the first ACC team ever to reach the semifinals.

"It is definitely a great accomplishment," said Treat Huey, a junior from Alexandria who played numerous tournaments in Hampton Roads while growing up.

"I feel all our guys have been playing great tennis right now. As a team, we feel that we could go out and upset No. 1 seed Georgia on their home court."

Georgia Women's Golf Coach Resigns After Showing Team Paris Hilton Sex-Tape

Georgia Golf Coach Resigns

The coach of the women's golf team at the University of Georgia resigned after reportedly making his team watch the Paris Hilton sex-tape via the Internet.

An investigation into golf coach Todd McCorkle showed that he made his team watch the sex video and later discussed the colors of Paris' bra and panties. He reportedly also told one of the girls she looked "sexy" on the way to the Southeastern Conference banquet and had a history of patting the girls on the butt and rubbing their shoulders.

"He doesn't need to be a coach of women's golf anywhere," one of the girls father told the Associated Press. "He got what he deserved."

A report said the university didn't fire McCorkle, but rather gave him another position in the athletic department on campus.

Georgia Student Put in Jail for Threats

The Frat Boy News daily campus police report for Wednesday:

University of Georgia
(compiled by WMAZ)
A University of Georgia graduate student whose rants alarmed a professor is in jail after undergoing a mental evaluation.

UGA police reports show 27-year-old Brandon Ginyard confronted officers with a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun when they arrived at his apartment April 30th with a commitment order and a warrant to search for weapons.

A judge signed the commitment order and search warrants after Ginyard made threatening statements during a meeting with the academic director of UGA's Terry College of Business.

Police reports say Ginyard was agitated and ended the meeting by telling the administrator, "Graduation doesn't matter. I will either be in jail or dead by May 11."

Ginyard was taken to East Central Regional Hospital in Augusta for a psychological evaluation and was released into police custody Monday afternoon. He was booked into Clarke County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.

Court officials say the results of Ginyard's psychological exam have not been made public, as they fall under medical confidentiality laws. But UGA police records obtained Tuesday by the Athens-Banner Herald show the man was apparently disturbed.

In October 2006, the university's Counseling and Psychiatric Services reported to campus police that students were afraid of Ginyard because he had a gun and threatened to kill himself and others. Authorities did not act after officers found that Ginyard had a permit for the gun. They reported the student was cooperative and showed no sign of self-destructive behavior.

Georgia Grad Student Cited for Threats

The Frat Boy News daily campus police report for Thursday:

University of Georgia
(compiled by 11Alive.com)
Doctors are evaluating a University of Georgia student after statements he made to a professor and a run-in with police in Athens.

This comes in the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy. Campus police in Athens said that a UGA professor did the right thing -- calling them after hearing some disturbing comments from an MBA student.

"Those comments that were made were no overt threats, or direct threats to any one individual, group or staff, but they were in such a way that that person may be of risk to injuring himself of somebody else," said UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson.

Armed with a court order for a mental evaluation, police went to the apartment of Brandon Ginyard. They thought he wasn't home, but as the landlord let them in, they learned otherwise.

"As we identified ourselves and started to enter the apartment, my officers came in contact with the party in the rear bedroom. At that time, he brandished a firearm," Williamson said.

Ginyard, 27, now faces not only a mental evaluation, but two charges of aggravated assault against officers. Campus police have since sent out an e-mail to all faculty, staff and students, calling it simply a public safety matter.

Police were able to talk Ginyard into putting down the weapon, but he still faces the related charges.

Rocking Chairs Stolen From Sigma Chi Porch

The Frat Boy News daily campus police report for Sunday:

University of Georgia
(compiled by Jessica Levine, The Red & Black)
Four rocking chairs with accompanying plaques valued at $820 were stolen from Sigma Chi's front porch, according to a University Police report.

Andrew Ward, a resident of the house, told police the rocking chairs were secured to the front porch with two cable locks. The locks appeared to have been cut with bolt cutters, police said. They were taken between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the report.

Each $175 chair had a plaque attached to the back that read "Sigma Chi Pledge Class of 2004." The plaques are valued at $30 each. Someone also attempted to cut through a metal frame holding a symbolic cross on the front lawn, police said. The damage to the cables and the cross is estimated to be less than $500.

Ward reported the missing property to University Police at 3:14 p.m. on Wednesday, police said. There are no suspects at this time.

Georgia Gets New Zeta Psi Chapter

New Frat Thwarts Traditional Stereotypes

A student at the University of Georgia didn't like the other fraternities on campus, so he decided to make his own.

Austin Carson, a junior at Georgia, created a colony of Zeta Psi at the university because he didn't like the stereotypical image the other frat portrayed.

"People wouldn't expect to fit in, but they do," he said. According to a report by the university's student newspaper, everbody in Zeta Psi brings something different to the table.

"We're different from the other frats in that we have such a wide range of personalities. A lot of the frats on campus try to ingrain that one belief and one 'look' about their frat, but really we're all just different, and we came together to make something that's really special and hopefully successful in the future," Ryan Lavner, a Zeta Psi, said.

Blame The Frat, Not The Media

The Frat Boy News Daily College Column
By David Asman, The University of Georgia's Red & Black Mailbox

If any organization does not wish to be associated with the actions of select members, it is the responsibility of the organization to disband its ties to those members.

In light of the recent drug allegations surrounding the three University students who all are coincidentally members of the same (AEPi) fraternity, I can understand the outrage and outcry of those members who have done nothing wrong.

That being said, their attention should be directed not toward the media, but rather at their own brotherhood for not having taken preemptive action to avoid the inevitable spotlight.

The risk management policy of AEPi Fraternity, Inc. that is sworn to by the members of the executive board to enforce and uphold states, "The possession, sale or use of illegal drugs or controlled substances while on campus premises or during a fraternity event or at any event that an observer would associate with the fraternity is strictly prohibited."

One of the charged students is alleged to have been in possession of "illegal drugs" on campus. The other two students, while not on campus or at a fraternity event, live in a house fully occupied by members of AEPi.

As an "observer," I associate their living arrangements with the fraternity, in accordance with their own policy.

Unfortunately, because the fraternity failed to take action against the accused brothers in an effort to distance itself from the possible tarnishing of its name as a whole, it is forced to suffer the consequence of a besmirched reputation.

Frat Brother Tries to Break into Sorority

A brother of Beta Theta Pi was caught trying to climb into the window of the University of Georgia's Delta Gamma sorority house recently.

Police were called after someone at the Chi Omega house next door saw David Thomas Shaw trying to break into the house. The smart criminal was found by authorities behind the house in the bushes.

Shaw, 20, was charged with loitering, prowling, and underage possession of alcohol.

Moral of the story - Drink, but please, please don't be stupid. If you are, just please don't get caught holding your dick in the bushes.
