University of Georgia police have arrested an Athens man in connection with theft on campus.

UGA police charged 33-year-old Letorris McDuffie with 21 counts of credit card fraud, 12 counts of theft, six counts of criminal trespass, two counts of being a party to credit card fraud and one count of theft by conversion. Police charged him Friday two days after he was arrested at a UGA office building where he had been seen a few weeks ago.

Officers arrested McDuffie Wednesday and took him to the Clarke County Jail when he returned to the UGA Foundation building.

Staff told police they had seen the man snooping late last month. Campus police Lieutenant Lisa Boone says police had barred McDuffie from all UGA properties for two years on February first when they caught him stealing construction materials from the Stegeman Coliseum Annex.

Boone said police suspected McDuffie stole several wallets, pocketbooks and backpacks from campus buildings between May 25th and June fifth because he matched the description of a man employees and students saw in the area where several thefts took place.

Police reports indicate someone tried to use credit and debits cards from the stolen wallets and bags.
