A Freshman's Guide for Surviving Your First Year

Summer is here, meaning school is out, but not yet over for many.

For some out there, it’s merely the beginning of something else that seems all too familiar despite the constant worries associated with it - college.

There’s no handbook or guide that will get you through these coming years just as no one can say they left unchanged. And since I have made the journey, I figured I could pass down my wisdom of college and how to make it though as best as I did.

In what sounds like a scheme straight out of the movie 'Slackers,' police are now saying sex may have been involved in a ring of students at Diablo Valley Community College who were said to have charged classmates about $600 per grade to change the final marks on their transcripts at the school's registrar.

The Sunflower State has a new woman to represent the people as Miss Kansas in pageant competitions throughout the next year. Alyssa George, a 21-year old junior at the University of Kansas and sister of Chi Omega sorority was crown with the award Saturday.

A cheerleading coach at a school funded by tennis-great Andre Agassi near the University of Nevada in Las Vegas was said by police to have been involved in a prostitution ring.
