ABC News and Facebook in Joint Effort to Bring Viewers Closer to Political Coverage

The online social networking platform Facebook and ABC News have reportedly joined forces in an effort to promote political coverage to a younger generation.

"Through this partnership, we want to extend the dialogue both before and after the debate," Dan Rose, Facebook’s vice president of business development, told The New York Times.

Through the partnership, Facebook users will be able to follow ABC News correspondents electronically. It is the first such joint effort between Facebook and a news organization.

Users will also be able to view political reports, videos and participate in online polls leading up to the 2008 U.S. Presidential election.

Who could forget Adam West, the man behind the mask in those old re-runs of the 1960s Batman TV series? Long before West was putting an end to the Joker's latest scheme as the Dark Knight, he was a brother of Beta Theta Pi at Whitman College.

Born William West Anderson in Walla Walla, Wash., he went on to attend Whitman College in the same city. At Whitman, West became a Beta, wrote for the campus newspaper, swam, skied, ran track and played water polo.

West majored in literature and minored in psychology before moving on to do graduate work at Stanford University. In the early 1950s, West was drafted into the U.S. Army and eventually settled in Hawaii where he would begin his acting career.

West was cast in 1966 on ABC's Batman as the caped crusader and his alter ego, Bruce Wayne. West would go on to appear in more than 40 movies and most recently had somewhat of a career revival on FOX's Family Guy as the mayor of Quahog.

Frat Guy of the Week: Drew Carey

Comedian and actor Drew Carey was a brother of Kent State University's chapter of Delta Tau Delta. Carey recently announced he will be the new host of 'The Price Is Right' beginning in October.

Carey was born and raised in Cleveland and went on to attend college at Kent State. At Kent, Drew joined Delta Tau Delta, but was later expelled from the college for bad grades after only three years.

Carey went on to join the U.S. Marines. After serving for six years, Carey began writing his own jokes and performed stand-up in Cleveland and Los Angeles, and eventually in 1991 appeared on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

In 1995, 'The Drew Carey Show' premiered on ABC and ran until 2004. During that time, Carey also served as host of ABC's 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'

In July, Carey announced that he will succeed the retired Bob Barker as the host of CBS' 'The Price Is Right.' Carey is set to debut on the show Oct. 15.

Frat Guy of the Week: Al Michaels

The voice of NBC's Sunday Night Football, longtime sports broadcaster Al Michaels was a brother of Sigma Nu fraternity while he majored in radio and television at Arizona State University.

After college, Michaels began covering a minor league baseball team in Hawaii, while also working as the play-by-play man for the University of Hawaii's football and basketball games.

In 1977, Michaels was hired by ABC where he covered a variety of sporting events, including the historic victory of the U.S.A. men's hockey team over Russia in 1980, commonly known as "The Miracle on Ice."

In 1986, Michael's became the host of ABC's Monday Night Football, where he would stay until moving to NBC to broadcast its Sunday night games with his partner John Madden.

ABC Family Adds 10 More Episodes to 'Greek' Season

ABC Family Orders More 'Greek'

ABC Family has ordered ten additional episodes of its hit summer series 'Greek,' which chronicles the lives of fictitious college fraternity men and sorority women.

The show, which premiered on the network in July, has also been shown Friday nights on its parent channel, ABC.

Since its debut, it has taken heat from students around the nation who belive the show to falsely depict actual fraternity and sorority life.

The show airs each Monday at 9 p.m. on ABC Family.
