WSU Frat Fight Leads to Five Arrests

Five members of a Washington State University fraternity have been arrested for involvement in a fight with members of another fraternity.

The suspects belong to the Delta Chi Fraternity. Arrested were 19-year-old Mark Tarabochia, 20-year-old Scott Tandoi, 19-year-old Timonthy Giles, 21-year-old Christopher Ranch, and 19-year-old Brian White.

Tarabochia, Tandoi and Giles were arrested and booked into the Whitman County Jail for second degree assault.

Ranch and White were arrested for fourth degree assault. Both were booked and released from the Pullman Police Department.

Police said on October 27 the five suspects fought with two men from the Theta Chi Fraternity on WSU's Greek Row.

According to the president of Theta Chi and Pullman Police, a 20-year-old victim from Theta Chi sufferred three fractures in his jaw, and may have permanent nerve damage. The victim was eventually transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatement.

The president of Delta Chi had previously said his organization deals anyone involved in fighting individually, and is taking action against the five suspects.

Police are looking for a male porn star they say shares the blame with a Washington State University student who broke into three of the college's sororities and sexually assaulted a woman sleeping at the Kappa Alpha Theta house.

Christopher Jack Reid, 25, is better known as his alias in the porn industry "Jack Venice." Police say he and student Kyle M. Schott, 23, "sexually assaulted a woman in a manner that did not involve intercourse" on Thursday who was sleeping at the university's Kappa Alpha Theta house.

Earlier that evening, police say the two men broke into the university's Pi Beta Phi and Delta Gamma houses.

The woman who reported being sexually assaulted wasn't a sister of Kappa Alpha Theta, but was spending the night at their house. She told police she awoke to the sound of a condom being opened and the men fled from the house.

Schott was arrested Friday after the incident and charged with second-degree rape, first-degree burglary, attempted residential burglary and two counts of residential burglary.

Police said the porn star is still on the loose. His last known address was believed to be in Los Angeles. Reid has appeared in over 85 pornos and such classics as "Cougars on the Hunt" and "My First Sex Teacher."

Record Numbers of Freshmen Girls Rushing Sororities

Freshmen girls at colleges around the nation are rushing sororities at record numbers.

“There is a higher number of freshmen this year and when freshmen enrollment goes up, then usually so does recruitment numbers,” said Anita Corey, Washington State University's director of the Center of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

"It was a stressful but very good experience," said Caitlin Burns, a Kansas State University freshman who got a bid from Sigma Kappa. "I'm glad I did it even though I didn't get my first preference. It's going good so far."

Even girls with disabilities are getting in on the action.

"I was worried they wouldn't accept me," said Ashley Wagner, a quadriplegic girl who got a bid from Kansas State's chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

"I obviously can't get upstairs, so they carried me up themselves on bid day, which was really nice," she said.

“The main thing that black sororities offer if lifelong membership and love," said Alpha Kappa Alpha sister Shawna Newbill from Richmond, Va.

The Tuscaloosa News reported Sunday in an article that was a primer for those unfamiliar with black sororities.

Washington State University's office of Greek life stated “It is important that each person commit to the purpose of their founders and the organization’s goal for the upliftment of the black race."

The article also identified the "divine nine" international Greek letter organizations: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

These organizations are members of the National Pan Hellenic Council, which was formed in 1930 at Howard University, the traditionally black college.

Steve Hansen used to be the Chief of Campus police at Washington State University. That is, until he got caught looking at a little porno. Now he protects and serves as a Lieutenant.

An investigation revealed Hansen looked a pornography that arrived in his email on school computers, then forwarded it to the assistant chief of police and others. The assistant chief of police resigned as result of the incident.

As part of his demotion, Hansen will be paid only $69,500. Hansen earned $83,681 last year. Hanson has been a member of the Washington University campus police since 1983.

Woman Reports Rape After Theta Xi Party

Washington State University -A 20-year-old woman reported she was raped after a party at Theta Xi fraternity house early Saturday.

The woman told Pullman Police she was partying with her boyfriend at the fraternity house before going to sleep in his bed, Cmdr. Chris Tennant said. She woke up at about 4 a.m. with a man on top of her.

She later reported the sexual assault to police, Tennant said. She could not provide officers with her attacker’s identity, but gave officers a couple leads.

“We have enough to get started,” Tennant said.
