Bentley Students Rip Down Tree, Caught Smoking Other Kind of "Tree"

April 5 - 10 p.m.: Officers responded to Kresge Hall for a reported odor of marijuana. When they arrived on the basement level, they were met with an official from Residential Life, and they knocked on the room from which the odor was emanating. A resident student answered the door and when asked what he was doing responded, "Nothing." All of the residents of the room denied having smoked marijuana, even after officers explained that the odor of marijuana became significantly stronger when they opened the door. Officers also noticed that, despite the cold weather, the windows in the suite were open, and several residents were wearing jackets in the room. All of the room's residents will be judicially charged.

April 7 - 6:30 p.m.: Campus Police investigated a wallet found by the pond. Officers identified it as belonging to a commuter student, but also observed a phony Florida license in the student's name, stating that he was two years older than he was. The student was not a Florida resident. He faces judicial charges.

April 8 - 1:20 a.m.: Officers responded to a report of three male parties who had ripped down a tree by the Student Center. Dispatchers were able to watch the students on camera, and observed as they swiped into the Tree Dorms, allowing officers to find the swiping student's name from the card access logs. All three males were later identified and will be judicially charged.

Pizza Delivery Guy Beat Up and Robbed at Bentley

Feb. 27 - 10:33 p.m.: Officers responded to the second floor of Orchard North for a medical emergency. A Bentley student had injured themselves while cutting food, resulting in a "deep laceration" on their thumb. The student had been able to contain the bleeding, but was transported to the hospital.

Feb. 27 - 11:08 p.m.: Campus Police responded to the second floor of Alder Hall for a report of an intoxicated student who had thrown up in the hallway. He confessed to having had "some alcohol," and, when asked for identification, he handed officers a license in someone else's name, which officers confiscated. An ambulance was called to evaluate the student, but it was determined that he was not intoxicated enough to pose a danger to himself. He will be judicially charged for the incident.

March 1 - 10:10 a.m.: Officers responded to the third floor of Jennison Hall for a report of a female student crying and vomiting. The student, who stated that she hadn't eaten since last night, was taken to Health Services.

March 2 - 1:12 a.m.: Officers responded to Falcone North where a delivery driver for Tiki Hut reported that he had been assaulted and robbed by two white males, who grabbed him and took the food he was attempting to deliver. Although officers had no immediate suspects, they did obtain descriptions from the driver and the case remains under investigation.

"I Just Want My Golf Clubs Back"

Feb. 17 - 6:37 p.m.: Campus Police received a copy of a report from Waltham Police Department for a domestic disturbance involving two Bentley students. The two students had broken up, and, afterwards, one student requested their golf clubs back from the other, which were stored off-campus. The students gave conflicting reports regarding which student began swinging a golf club, and of who was injured. Both students will be charged judicially for the incident.

Feb. 18 - 1:47 a.m.: Officers responded to the first floor of Falcone East after a group of males entered a room and began threatening the occupants, throwing glasses against the wall and flipping over a table in the process. They encouraged the residents to go outside and fight them; the students refused, and instead called the police. The visitors fled the scene prior to the arrival of the police. One student reported that the confrontation appeared to have been based on rumors about comments he made several weeks ago at an off-campus party. At the time of this publication, the case remained under investigation.

Feb. 18 - 2:20 a.m.: Campus Police responded to North Campus B for a report of an individual removing the handicapped parking signs. Because the accused used his Bentley ID to swipe into the building, officers were able to respond directly to his room. They recovered the sign, and the student will be judicially charged.

Kegs, Hackers, and Drunk Dudes at Bentley

Feb. 11 - 12:48 a.m.: Officers responded to a noise complaint at the Hardy Apartments. When officers arrived, they could hear music from outside the building, which was traced to a room on the third floor. The door was opened by a Bentley student, and officers observed a keg in the kitchen. Officers explained that kegs were only allowed for registered parties, and that the party needed to be ended. The student cooperated, and told officers that he had another keg in the bathtub. Officers confiscated both kegs, and the students will be judicially charged for an unregistered party and unregistered kegs.

Feb. 5 - 1:58 p.m.: A Bentley student filed a report with Campus Police alleging that his computer and network accounts had been tampered with. He stated that he dropped his computer off for service, and shortly thereafter was unable to log into an online poker site he frequents. After contacting the owners of the site, he found that his account information on the site had been changed several times, and that his funds with the site had been depleted. He also stated that e-mails in his Lotus Notes account had been deleted. The incident remains under investigation.

Feb. 11 - 4:02 a.m.: Campus Police was called to a dorm for a reported unwanted individual. A male student had entered the room of a female student, intoxicated, attempting to apologize for an earlier argument. When officers arrived, the student had returned to his own room, where the student was attempting to make his bed. When asked how he had gotten into the girl's room, he explained that the door was broken and didn't lock properly. Officers grew concerned about his level of intoxication, and he was taken into protective custody, and will be judicially charged for the incident.

Feb. 8 - 2:51 a.m.: Officers were called to the first floor of a dorm for a report of a male sleeping in the hallway. Officers were able to awaken the student, who explained that he had been to a fraternity rush event earlier and that he had locked himself out of his room. He told officers that the event was a "Mystery Night," and, when asked what it entailed, he replied, "You know, strippers," and admitted to having approximately half a dozen beers at the event. Although he had the odor of alcohol on his breath, he was stable on his feet. Residence Life was called to admit the student to his room, and he will judicially charged for underage consumption of alcohol.

Feb. 10 - 11:46 p.m.: Officers responded to the first floor of Fenway for a reported odor of marijuana. The officers knocked on the door that the odor appeared to be coming from, which was answered by a Bentley student. When asked if he had been smoking marijuana, he said he had not; he had only been drinking. He later admitted that he had smoked marijuana earlier, but said he did not have any more drugs on him. Officers recovered a white container with three marijuana buds and rolling papers. He will be judicially charged.

Feb. 6 - 6 p.m.: Cops were called to an apartment on the 50 block of East 18th Street last week to quell a violent fight between two roommates. Police said that both women, ages 19 and 20, were arrested during the fight. They were reportedly fighting over their “living situation” cops were told. The 19-year-old was arrested for allegedly cutting the older woman in the face with a knife. The other woman was arrested for physically assaulting the 19-year-old, officials said.

Feb. 9 - 11:14 a.m.: Staff member reports suspicious item resembling a pipe bomb in bathroom. Public Safety and Northampton Police Department notified, device found to be a hoax.

Feb. 8 - 3:13 p.m.: Staff member reports a group of six unwanted individuals in library. Public Safety notified, individuals asked to leave.

Fax Machines, Pot, Shrooms, Textbooks, and Spray Paint

Jan. 22 - 12:42 p.m.: Campus Police received a call from a residence in Forest Hall on their emergency line, but heard only noises sounding like a fax machine. When officers arrived, they determined that the noises were caused by the residents attempting to configure their Tivo.

Jan. 24 - 1:58 p.m.: Officers responded to the parking lot behind Slade Hall, where they had found a large black safe. The safe, weighing approximately 50 pounds, appeared to have been pried open, and the electronic lock mechanism was broken off. Due to a lack of information, and because no one has reported a safe missing, the case is considered closed at this time.

Jan. 26 - 3:50 a.m.: Campus Police responded to a fire alarm activation in Orchard North. As the residents were evacuating, officers investigated the cause of the alarm, which was caused when a resident of the second floor fell asleep while cooking pasta.

Jan. 27 - 1:44 a.m.: Campus Police responded to Kresge Hall for a reported odor of marijuana. Officers determined that the smell was emanating from a particular room and knocked on the door. The door was opened by a Bentley student with red, bloodshot eyes, who denied that he or his roommate had used marijuana. They refused to allow Campus Police to search the room, but officers observed numerous beer cans throughout the room and a burning candle, which were confiscated. Both residents will be charged with possession of a controlled substance, underage consumption of alcohol, and violation of college rules.

Jan. 27 - 2:14 a.m.: Campus Police was called to the third floor of Slade for a fight. When officers arrived, the fight was no longer in progress. After the involved students denied medical attention, officers took statements from each as to the causes of the fight. They determined that the fight was caused when an underage student asked another student to buy him alcohol. A third student purchased and delivered the alcohol, but the first student complained that he hadn't received proper change. A verbal argument ensued, which soon escalated into a physical confrontation in which one of the students attempted to choke another. At the time of press, the case was still under investigation.

Jan. 27 - 3:40 a.m.: Campus Police was called to Collins Hall, where a female student reported that her former boyfriend had ransacked her room while she was gone. She stated that he knew her combination, and Campus Police requested that a locksmith respond to change the combination overnight. The female stated that nothing appeared to be missing. Officers approached the male student, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Officers administered a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was taken into protective custody at Waltham Police Department, and will be judicially charged with protective custody, breaking and entering, and malicious behavior.

Jan. 30 - time unknown: The wooden fence around Zeta Psi fraternity, was vandalized sometime during the weekend with 5-foot, spray-painted phallic images and illegible writing, State College police said. Police said there are no suspects, but the graffiti is similar to other incidents in the area.

Jan. 24 - time unknown: A policeman was dispatched to UTC Place to see the victim about a textbook. Upon arrival, the victim advised she had loaned her textbook to the suspect and the suspect refused to return the book. The officer went to the suspect's room at which time the suspect advised he did not borrow the book but that the victim had been over earlier that night and had left the book in his apartment. The suspect turned the book over to police and the book was returned to the victim.

Jan. 25 - 2:30 a.m.: Police were advised via radio that a personal vehicle had been vandalized. The victim further advised that the vandalism was caused by several eggs and two banana peels. There are no suspects at this time.

Jan. 28 - 12:08 a.m.: Police responded to a drug and narcotic offense at UTC Place 3000 building. Police found four grams of what appeared to be mushrooms and five grams of what appeared to be marijuana. A suspect was arrested for possession of controlled substances. In addition, alcoholic beverages were found in the apartment.
